The work chair must be ergonomic, comfortable and safe to use. If you have a sedentary job, you spend most of your working day there. If you are used to your current work chair and don't plan to buy a new one any time soon, it is important to maintain it regularly to ensure its longevity.
Signs of chair wear
Daily use causes the chair to wear out badly:
- finishing materials - wear or soiling due to friction
- moving parts - jamming or backlash
- rolling parts - wear and getting stuck
Dirt on the surfaces of the chair components can interfere with the functioning of the chair and contribute to its faster deterioration.
Remember!
When sitting in a chair, the entire seating surface must be occupied. This
ensures even weight distribution without damaging the chair.
Use the chair for its intended purpose and in the appropriate space.
How do I maintain my office chair?
There are a number of steps you can take to ensure that your office chair lasts as long as possible:
Clean the chair regularly
The quickest and easiest way to clean
office chairs and surfaces is using a vacuum cleaner.
Remember to use a vacuum cleaner nozzle that does not scratch surfaces.
To clean natural leather surfaces, use a damp but not wet cloth, then dry the
surface thoroughly. You can use cleaning products designed for this purpose.
If a chair is in good working order but cannot be cleaned or has damaged surface material (fabric, leather substitute, leather), it can be "refreshed" by replacing the surface material. For more information about surface materials and colours, please contact “Rīgas Krēslu Fabrika” (Riga Chair Factory) showroom, email info@rkf.lv or call +371 67374950.
Pay attention to the rolling part of the chair
When cleaning, pay attention to the
cleanliness and wear condition of the castors.
Dirt tends to get trapped in the castors, which prevents them from rolling
freely and can cause scratches on the floor.
If the castors on the work chair have worn out, they must be replaced. For RKF manufactured office chairs, the castors can be purchased separately and easily replaced at home.
Periodically check the stability of bolts and connections
Check that all the bolts are in place and that none of them has loosened. The bolts must be tightened to ensure the strength of the connections and the overall structure.
When should I have my work chair serviced?
You can certainly look after your chair whenever you feel it could do with a little adjustment, but as a general rule it is recommended to have a routine service about every 6 months.
Regular chair maintenance will ensure that your office chair: stays looking fresh, works efficiently and lasts a long time.
However, if the work chair makes unnecessary noises during use or if any of the adjustment functions do not work, it needs maintenance. In this case, please contact the manufacturer or the seller of the chair.
If you need an assessment of the technical condition and maintenance of a chair manufactured by RKF, please contact “Rīgas Krēslu Fabrika” (Riga Chair Factory) and bring the chair to the showroom at 177 Brīvības Street, Riga.
RKF chairs come with a 3-year warranty and after-sales repair service.
